2. New England Patriots (No. 46)

The Cam Newton era didn’t exactly work out for the Patriots. A year after losing Tom Brady in free agency to the Buccaneers, the Patriots missed the playoffs while they got to sit home and watch Tampa Bay hoist the Vince Lombardi Trophy.

Bill Belichick needs a young quarterback to work with to get back to the top of the league and I’m not quite sure that Jarrett Stidham is the guy. He could be, but why not take a chance on Kyle Trask at No. 46 overall?

Like the Broncos, the Patriots could reach for a guy like Mac Jones from Alabama in the middle of the first round, but why not address a bigger or at least equal need in the middle of the first who isn’t a reach? New England could decide to choose a Kyle Pitts (if he’s still on the board), an interior defensive lineman or a linebacker. Those will all be available in the middle of round one.

New England has a decent backfield and Jakobi Meyers stood out as a breakout receiver. That along with Damiere Byrd and N’Keal Harry and these young receivers have some potential.

What better coach could Trask hope to play for at the next level than Belichick?
