When you think of Clemson, one of the first things that comes to mind is standout defensive stars. The Tigers have had one of the best defenses in college football over the past decade and Brent Venables is a major reason why.

That’s not going to change any time soon, especially since the Tigers lead for a guy like Jeadyn Lukus. He’s one of the best cornerbacks in the entire class and a current Clemson lean. Being from the state of South Carolina helps the Tigers’ case here.

Lukus is likely the top defensive back on the Tigers’ 2022 recruiting board and he’s ranked the No. 6 cornerback in the class and No. 38 overall prospect, according to the composite.

North Carolina and Ohio State are also pushing for the four-star prospect from Mauldin, S.C., and if I were to pick the biggest threat to land him, it would be the Buckeyes.

But Dabo Swinney and Venables are in a good spot right now for the elite 6-1, 175-pound cornerback.
