Kyle Trask was most people’s QB6 in this draft class behind the likes of Trevor Lawrence, Zach Wilson, Trey Lance, Justin Fields, and Mac Jones. All five of those guys went in the first round on Thursday night in the top-15 picks, but Trask looks like a Day 2 prospect.

The Florida football star will be waiting to hear his name called at the end of the second round and into the 3-4 range but my guess is he’d be a mid-to-late third-round selection.

There’s always a chance that he sneaks into Day 3 and one team gets a big steal to fill that backup quarterback spot on the depth chart.

Which teams will take a chance on the 2020 Heisman Trophy contender who finished with 4,283 yards and 43 touchdowns while completing 69 percent of his passes?

Potential landing spots for Kyle Trask

Trask might fall all the way to the third round and in an extreme circumstance, he could go on Day 3 in the fourth round. If that’s the case, one team is going to hit a home run with a mid-round steal.

The earliest I could see him going is the end of the second round.

Let’s say he does go near the end of the second round, which teams will be looking for a quarterback in that range?

If Aaron Rodgers truly gets out of Green Bay, the Packers might be smart to give him a look at No. 62 to back up Jordan Love. The Steelers (No. 56) and Saints (No. 60) could also be options. None of those teams really need a quarterback in the second round, so that’s where the third round comes into play.

The Atlanta Falcons passed on a quarterback like Justin Fields in the first round so maybe No. 68 overall would be a good spot to take a guy who needs a couple of years to learn the ropes. Denver could also take him with the No. 71 pick. The Lions (No. 72) and Panthers (No. 73) could be good fits for him as a backup early on.

Also, you can’t sleep on the Packers, Saints, or Steelers using their third-round picks on Trask. He could be there if the Lions, Falcons, and Panthers pass.

My guess would be the Falcons take him but if he goes past Atlanta, the Panthers would also be a solid landing spot. Learning behind Matt Ryan for a year or two would be ideal.
