Rutgers Football: Jacob Allen commitment is massive for Scarlet Knights
Greg Schiano is doing an incredible job at Rutgers football and has landed the Scarlet Knights a second top-100 recruit in 2022 in Jacob Allen.
It seems like Greg Schiano was made to be the head coach of Rutgers football. He did a great job in his first stint, and even before his second season has started, he’s making waves in Piscataway again.
Not only did Rutgers actually win three Big Ten games last season — yes three, Schiano has been killing it on the recruiting trail.
Not only did Rutgers football land the best quarterback it has had in decades in Gavin Wimsatt, a top-100 recruit, but Schiano also landed another elite prospect on Thursday in top-100 offensive lineman Jacob Allen.
Currently, the Scarlet Knights 2022 recruiting class ranks seventh nationally according to the 247 sports composite rankings and it looks even better now with Allen, who just happens to be the top player in the state of New Jersey.
And Allen isn’t just another offensive tackle, he’s the definition of an elite prospect. He’s 6-foot-6, 270 pounds out of Princeton, New Jersey. He’s ranked 11 among offensive tackles nationally and he’s got future NFL prospect written all over him.
The scouting report on Allen from 247 sports, from Brian Dohn, lists him as a potential second or third-round draft pick. Here’s what Allen’s high school head coach said about his abilities:
“He is a dynamic kid because he has elite size, elite speed,” Smith said. “He bends very well for a kid of his size but I think one of the things that sets him apart from everyone else is he does have a nasty side to him.”
What Jacob Allen means for Rutgers football
The article by 247 sports talks about Allen as a cornerstone for Rutgers football and that’s exactly what he can be.
But really, winning his recruitment is about more than just what Allen can bring to the field. It’s about locking down the state of New Jersey long-term and if Schiano can do that, Rutgers can be a winner, just like it was previously under Schiano.
The program was a sleeping giant with incredible potential. Schiano was able to reach that potential before and he’s the perfect guy to unlock it again.
And if anyone doubts that Rutgers football is on its way to being relevant, they aren’t paying attention, because Schiano is getting elite talent and the wins, which have already started to come, will only continue to follow.
