“Coach Prime” enters the fall with a lot of new faces. How will the Jackson State Tigers fare in a stacked Eastern Division?

All eyes will be on Jackson, Mississippi, this spring as “Coach Prime” Deion Sanders enters his first entire fall season as the head coach of the Jackson State Tigers. This spring season began with a bang and ended with a thud as JSU finished their spring 3-3 (not including their forfeit win against Alcorn).

The spring and fall rosters will look different as there was much transfer portal traffic in and out of Jackson State this summer. Top quarterbacks Jalon Jones and Quincy Carter both transferred, paving the way for Shedeur Sanders to start this fall.

All-purpose running back JD Martin comes to JSU and Sanders’ other son Shiloh, transferring from South Carolina. Those are some of the many new faces coming to Jackson State football this fall. For Sanders and the coaching staff, the question is, “how long will it take for the team to come together?”

How does Jackson State football measure up?

This fall comes down to how well Sanders plays this fall. The Texas high school standout has all the tools to be a game-changing quarterback for the Tigers, but newcomers tend to play like, well, newcomers.

Sanders will have a stable of talented wide receivers from the portal. Florida State transfer Isaiah Bolden and Houston transfer Keith Corbin are two receivers joining the receiver room at JSU.
