Florida football still has plenty of work to do in the 2022 recruiting class and here are three commitments the Gators could flip.

It’s clear if you check out the team rankings for the 2022 recruiting class that Florida football is not where it wants to be right now.

However, it’s really early and the Gators only have 10 recruits committed as part of its 2022 class. Plus, even though Florida is ranked 31st right now according to 247 sports, Clemson was 33rd not that long ago until two big commitments jumped the Tigers 20 spots.

Florida football is also involved with some really elite-level recruits and those guys tend to push their decisions out a little longer.

Still, it hurt when Tyler Booker came off the board for Alabama last Friday and now, another top target, Shawn Murphy, just picked up a crystal ball projection to the Tide on Monday.

The Gators are still off to a solid start with six of their 10 pledges ranking as four-star recruits but with some recent strikeouts in the 2022 class, here are three potential flips for Florida football.

4-star OT Drew Shelton (Penn State)

Drew Shelton is currently committed to Penn State but had a recent flirtation with Florida football and took a visit to Gainesville in June. He seemed to solidify things with Penn State after taking a visit there in June but you never know.

He’ll also be playing his senior season at IMG Academy down in Florida and after missing on Booker, the Gators could look to Shelton to bring in another elite offensive lineman along with Tony Livingston.

Shelton said he was completely “locked-in” recently to 247 sports not long ago but if Penn State happens to struggle this fall on the field who knows, but from a Florida perspective, it’s worth continuing to push until early signing day.
