4-star defensive back Kody Jones

While Shelton is still a target for Florida, Kody Jones, a four-star cornerback out of Tennessee might be a more realistic flip for the Gators in the 2022 recruiting class.

Jones is currently committed to Michigan and pledged to the Wolverines during the winter, but did so shortly after Maurice Linguist was hired to coach cornerbacks and he has now moved on to be the head coach for Buffalo.

Steve Clinkscale was the replacement at Michigan and has done a solid job building the relationship but Jones has been listening to other schools and taking visits. He visited Illinois and is going to visit Florida.

Jones hasn’t set a date yet but he’s also close with Walter Nolen, a five-star defensive tackle that’s near the top of the board for the Gators as the No. 3 overall prospect in 2022.

Landing Jones could help in that regard, plus he’s ranked 316th overall in the class and would add even more depth at cornerback, especially with his ability to play in the slot.
