Searching for the next defensive line star at Florida? Look no further than Jeremiah Williams from Birmingham, Ala. He chose Florida over home-state Alabama and Auburn as a top-50 recruit and that’s something Dan Mullen has to be excited about.

Any time you can steal a prospect from the backyard of Auburn and Alabama, you have to feel good about it. Knowing Nick Saban wanted this kid is a good enough endorsement for me.

Williams is one of those guys who has an athletic frame at defensive end and it’s pretty obvious that he played other sports to help with his speed, athleticism, footwork, and burst. He explosdes off the defensive line and can find his way into the backfield with a hurry but he needs to work on being able to shed blockers when offensive linemen can keep up with him.

I think we’ll see a lot of Williams early on in his career and he even has the build at 6-3, 225 pounds to maybe even play the Buck position as a hybrid linebacker/end.

Mullen is going to have a tough time keeping him off the field and I think he has the ability to start for the Gators early on.
