Washington didn’t get to face Cal in a shortened 2020 season but the Golden Bears shouldn’t be much of a threat to the Huskies in the North in 2021.

The Golden Bears were just 1-3 last year and while that was somewhat of a surprise, it wasn’t a shock when you look at how poorly the offense performed. Chase Garbers was supposed to have a big year but he had just 771 yards and six touchdowns through the air in four games. The offense ranked 114th in the nation in total yards, 101st in passing, 101st in rushing, and 110th in scoring.

Will that improve in 2021? Probably, but not a drastic amount.

Garbers is back and is hoping to have better luck than he did in 2020 and with the experience necessary to have a bounce-back season, he should put up better numbers. But not against this Washington defense. The Huskies had one of the best defenses in the nation in 2020 and that’ll remain the same this year.

Early in the season, Cal will still be trying to figure things out, and losing defensive coordinator Tim DeRuyter to Oregon is going to be a massive hit. This one shouldn’t be that close.
