Louisiana offense won’t miss a beat in 2021

Billy Napier is a very good offensive coach and has developed depth and talent at Louisiana and this might be the best offense in school history if everything goes right.

The man leading the charge is going to be quarterback Levi Lewis, who is going to be entering his third season as the starting quarterback for the Ragin’ Cajuns. Lewis is one of the best dual-threat quarterbacks in the country and last season he threw for nearly 2,300 yards and rushed for 335 yards last year. He threw 19 touchdown passes with only seven interceptions in 2020 and is incredibly efficient as a rusher and a passer.

Louisiana has one of the best quarterbacks in the country and he is going to have a big season in 2021.

Two of the only starters that are not going to be coming back for the Cajuns are running backs Elijah Mitchell and Trey Ragas, who are both on NFL rosters. Mitchell and Ragas were both All-Sun Belt performers last season and their shoes are going to be tough to fill but is going to be up to Chris Smith to do so. Smith was the third back the past couple of years and I think he is ready to have a big season, but there is going to have to be developed depth to replace the other two backs since Louisiana is dependent on their running game.

Most of the receiving production is back for Louisiana this season. Kyren Lacy, Jalen Williams, Peter LeBlanc, and Errol Rogers are back, as is tight end Johnny Lumpkin. This is a solid group of playmakers that should keep this offense balanced.

The offensive line is returning all five starters, including second-team All-Sun Belt linemen O’Cyrus Torrence and Max Mitchell and third teamer Ken Marks. Louisiana also added ULM transfer linemen TJ Fiailoa.
