Last week, Texas A&M football made the list after landing Bryce Anderson, and for the second Friday in a row, the Aggies landed an elite prospect in Deyon Bouie, a four-star athlete out of Georgia.

Bouie is ranked 50th overall in the 2022 class according to the 247 sports composite rankings and is the No. 2 athlete in the country, although the 5-foot-11, 185-pounder will be a defensive back for Texas A&M football.

Not only was it huge for Jimbo Fisher and the Aggies to go into Georgia and land an elite prospect, who as a defender, had nine interceptions in his first two high school seasons, but he was projected to the Bulldogs at one time and that makes this recruiting win even more impressive.

Bouie is also a talented wideout and either way, he’s projected as a future early-round draft pick for the seventh-ranked class in the 2022 college football recruiting class.

While there was just one top-100 commitment in the 2022 recruiting class this past week, one of the most important pledges came from a guy who was already technically committed — four-star linebacker Jaron Willis.

Willis said that he had an announcement for last Friday and many assumed he would flip his commitment to Florida State. His 247 sports profile is still filled with crystal ball projections that flipped from Georgia Tech football to FSU.

However, Geoff Collins and the Yellow Jackets were able to retain Willis, who made the announcement that he was 100 percent committed to Georgia Tech football last Friday.

As big as it was to keep Willis, that momentum also led to another key addition which is that of four-star DB Jaylin Marshall. That combination was enough to put the “two” Georgia Tech commitments past Bouie for the top spot, even though he was the highest-ranked pledge of the week.

Marshall is ranked 345th in the 2022 recruiting class and the four-star safety recently opened up his recruitment after previously being committed to Arizona State. Florida State hosted him for a visit, as did Pitt, but Georgia Tech football got him.

And now, with Willis also staying in the class, the Yellow Jackets have some momentum on the trail. They just need to back it up with wins this fall.
