Baylor Football: Game-by-game predictions for 2021 season
The Bears don’t get a break in Week 5 as Oklahoma State will be waiting in Stillwater. The Cowboys, like Iowa State, will have an electric offense even with the departure of Chuba Hubbard. They also have a solid quarterback in Spencer Sanders and if he’s not healthy enough to go, there’s a more than capable backup in Shane Illingworth.
Boone-Pickens Stadium is one of the toughest places to play in the Big 12, so I don’t think this young Baylor team is going to get it done on the road with a first-year starting quarterback.
It’ll be a learning moment for Dave Aranda and the Bears.
Final Score: Baylor 24, Oklahoma State 34 (3-2, 1-2)
Neal Brown appears to be building West Virginia back brick-by-brick, and his rebuild with the Mountaineers reminds me a little of Matt Rhule’s with Baylor a few years ago. He took over the program in a bad spot and had a tough first year but is slowly building a winner.
Will Brown have a Baylor 2019-type season in 2021? I don’t think so, but I do believe that the Mountaineers could surprise some people.
Not in Week 6 in Waco, however. Baylor will hold on for a nice home win over the Mountaineers to end a two-game losing streak.
Final Score: West Virginia 20, Baylor 31 (4-2, 2-2)
