UCLA will finally get a break in Week 2 after playing both Week 0 and Week 1 contests against Hawaii and LSU, respectively. Fresno State comes to town in Week 3 to face the Bruins and this will be a nice confidence-booster after a tough loss to LSU a couple weeks earlier.

Fresno State isn’t exactly a Mountain West contender after a 3-3 season in 2020, but like UCLA’s Week 0 opponent from the conference, the Bulldogs also have a potentially prolific passer to worry about. If the Bruins can keep Jake Haener in check, this should be an easy win.

I think the Bruins will do just that.

Final Score: Fresno State 17, UCLA 38 (2-1)

David Shaw has had a tough stretch at Stanford, but 2020 was a nice bounce-back year for the Cardinal as they went 4-2. Will that trend continue? We’ll see.

The Cardinal have to replace Davis Mills but they did have the No. 3 offense in the Pac-12 last season which should only improve as long as Jack West isn’t a total disappointment. Still, I don’t think the Cardinal will be back just yet as UCLA steals this one on the road to kick off conference play with a big win.

Final Score: UCLA 30, Stanford 23 (3-1, 1-0 Pac-12)
