Florida Football game Saturday: Florida vs FAU odds and prediction
The Florida football team is opening its season Saturday against Florida Atlantic and here are the odds, as well as a prediction.
While there are many teams taking part in marquee matchups on Saturday, Florida football isn’t one of them.
The Gators will be hosting Florida Atlantic Saturday night in the swamp and Willie Taggart’s crew is fresh off a 5-4 season that ended with a loss in a bowl game to Memphis.
However, the Owls return a bunch of starters on both sides of the ball. Plus there is the addition of former Miami quarterback N’Kosi Perry, who should help the offense be even better.
Florida football will also have a new starting quarterback this season in Emory Jones who will take over Kyle Trask.
Kyle Pitts is also gone after going in the top five to the Atlanta Falcons, so the Gators will have work to do with new faces at key spots in the lineup.
Florida Football vs Florida Atlantic odds Week 1
The Week 1 betting odds from WynnBET have Florida football favored to beat Florida Atlantic, an in-state opponent by 24.5 points. The over/under for the game is 53.5.
Florida Football vs Florida Atlantic Prediction Week 1
The swamp is going to be packed and that always makes it tough on opponents, especially at night. FAU is a veteran team though and even though the Owls have a new starter, it’s not like he hasn’t been on a big stage before.
On the other side of the field, Jones is making his first career start and while it’s possible he could play his way into Heisman contention or even first-round contention in Dan Mullen’s offense, will things be running smoothly on opening night?
That’s a tough question to answer. But Florida football is going to be better defensively and the running game should be good enough for the Gators to roll.
Turnovers will help the score become more lopsided and Florida knocks off FAU 45-17.
