Florida Football: Best, worst, and most likely scenarios for 2021
Worst-case scenario
A lot could go wrong for Florida this season in the worst-case scenario.
Losing Kyle Trask, Kyle Pitts, and Kadarius Toney could do some major damage to the offensive side of the ball. Emory Jones is talented, but there’s a chance he could have a hard time grasping the offense in the way Trask did. There might be some growing pains this season.
And Todd Grantham and Dan Mullen were at each other’s throats last season and if that defense doesn’t improve drastically from its 83rd national ranking, there could be some turmoil.
In this worst-case scenario, Florida is still going to start the season 2-0 with wins over FAU and South Florida. The Gators still lose to Alabama in Week 3 but even in the worst case, I can’t see the Gators losing to Tennessee, Kentucky, or Vanderbilt — although the Wildcats could make things interesting.
Florida will lose to both Georgia and LSU to drop to 5-3 with two sure wins against South Carolina and Samford next on the schedule.
The Gators will slip up at Missouri to drop to 7-4 before rebounding to beat Florida State in a season finale rivalry, finishing with a disappointing 8-4 record and .500 mark in SEC play.
Worst case: 8-4, 4-4 SEC
