5 games with the biggest College Football Playoff implications in Week 1
As we head into Week 1 of the college football season, here are the five games with the biggest college football playoff implications.
Although we got a taste of college football last week, that was more like an appetizer and finally, starting Thursday, we are onto the main course.
And even though it’s just the first full week of the 2021 college football season, we have quite a week of games on tap. There is a fair share of games that will end in blowouts, as is the norm in the first week of the season but there are plenty of marquee matchups too.
Four games will feature top-25 matchups, including two contests between SEC and ACC teams that are each ranked in the top 14 of the AP Poll. Even outside of those games, there is plenty to wet your appetite.
One of the games I’m interested in is San Jose State against USC. North Carolina at Virginia Tech is another game to watch in week one as the Hokies try to pull an early upset at home.
Conference games are always tough but they are especially difficult this early in the season and there are already some critical intraconference matchups too.
And what’s even better is that since the NFL doesn’t start till next week, college football will reign supreme from Thursday until Monday, as we even have Notre Dame and Florida State going head-to-head on Sunday, as well as Louisville and Ole Miss battling it out on Monday.
It just feels good to have college football back and in terms of the College Football Playoff, here are five games with the biggest implications.
