Arkansas football faced the Texas Longhorns in Fayetteville on Saturday in front of a packed Donald W. Reynolds Stadium, but it was one fan in particular that caught the attention of social media: Jerry Jones.

Jones is one of the most famous and successful alumni ever produced by the University of Arkansas. Jones played at Arkansas in the 1960s as an offensive lineman for the Razorbacks. He went on to serve as a captain for Arkansas during the 1964 National Championship Game against Nebraska.

Jones went on to become an incredibly successful businessman and purchased the Dallas Cowboys in 1989. As of 2021, Jones has a net worth of over $10 billion, according to Forbes, making him one of the richest men in the world.

Jerry Jones has donated millions of dollars to the university and is a boon for Arkansas football recruiting

The Arkansas football program is better off because of Jones. Jones donated $10.65 million to the University of Arkansas back in 2015, according to the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.

The Arkansas Razorbacks need all the help they can get when it comes to recruiting. Not only do they compete in a stacked SEC West (facing the likes of Alabama, Auburn, and Texas A&M each year), they are likely to make the game against the Texas Longhorns an annual conference game.

Arkansas and Texas have a rivalry that dates back to the now-defunct Southwest Conference, where they faced each other regularly.

I’m sure Jerry Jones will be looking forward to the much shorter commute from Dallas to Austin once Texas joins the SEC, but rest assured the man loves his Arkansas football team.
