Florida Football: 3 bold predictions vs. South Florida in Week 2
2. Emory Jones will throw three touchdown passes
Emory Jones’ season-opening performance against FAU was forgettable. It was his first opportunity as the starting quarterback for the Gators and he needed to prove that he was a better option than Anthony Richardson. He didn’t do that.
In his first opportunity as Florida’s starter, Jones completed 17-of-27 passes for just 113 yards and a touchdown. He threw two picks and just didn’t look like he was ready for the big stage despite having a wealth of talent at his disposal.
Jones is going to bounce back on Saturday afternoon against a bad South Florida defense, throwing three touchdown passes and no interceptions.
Florida is going to need Jones to be much better than he was in the opener if the Gators want to make another push at the playoff.
The Gators will feel much better about him as QB1 after his performance against South Florida, but we do need to realize just how bad the Bulls are.
