14. team. 887. . 1-1. Previous: 14th. Commodores

The Vanderbilt Commodores stay at No. 14 despite a three-point win, mostly because they are simply not good and neither is the team they beat: Colorado State.

Now they prepare to face off against Stanford in Week 3 and things aren’t looking to get much better for the ‘Dores. Ken Seals is decent enough, but he wouldn’t likely be a starter for any other team in the conference not named Mississippi State and I say that with the utmost confidence.

13. team. 893. . 2-0. Previous: 13th. Bulldogs

Mississippi State may be the worst 2-0 team that I have seen in a long time. They barely squeaked by Louisiana Tech and now they beat a horrible NC State team. They play Memphis in Week 3 and that could be a sneaky good game.

Memphis has some talented players and Mississippi State is playing inconsistent football, at best. To put it plainly, I don’t anticipate the Bulldogs winning this game and I don’t anticipate them moving much higher in the power rankings this season.
