Week 3 may be the week where we may not see a ton of upsets like in Week 1 but we may see some more impactful and shocking upsets in week three of play in college football.

Here we look at some bold predictions for Week 3 of play and more.

Some have already made Week 3 possible upset alert predictions this week and rightfully so as this college football season has had their share of upsets already going back to Week 1 play and Week 2 did not disappoint as well.

Let’s first take a look at the potential upsets and which favored teams may be on upset alert for Week 3 of play.

Then we will look at some bold predictions in games that may have an impact on the college football playoff picture.

848. 819. 2:30 PM ET. 2-0. NBC. Saturday, Sept 18. 2-0.

This is a game between two undefeated teams and Purdue has looked impressive defeating Pac-12 opponent Oregon State in Week 1 and they went on the road for their second game and easily defeated UConn but this game against Notre Dame will be their first test of the season.

Notre Dame on the other hand has won two hard-fought games. It began with a road win against Florida State that looked impressive at the time but when the Seminoles lost the following week to an FCS opponent at home and now that victory has lost some mystique to it.

The Fighting Irish at home fell behind against Toledo before they came back to defeat the Rockets 32-29. However, Notre Dame at home should give them an edge and the Fighting Irish should prevail over the Boilermakers 21-17.

Coastal Carolina is going on the road to face off against Buffalo. The Chanticleers are ranked No. 16 after an impression 2020 season and two home victories against The Citadel and Kansas. Their offense has played well and their defense has been solid but not great.

The Bulls easily defeated FCS opponent Wagner at home before losing on the road to Nebraska. W

ith this game being Coastal Carolina’s first road game of the season and Buffalo being able to play well at home, expect this game to be close but the Chanticleers will prevail by a score of 31-21.

ACCN. 1-1. 2-0. 888. Saturday, Sept 18. 838. . 7:30 PM ET

Some are picking this game as the most likely and impactful upset for Week 3 as North Carolina struggled against Virginia Tech in week one of play. Virginia has played well at home defeating William & Mary as well as Illinois. However, the Tar Heels being at home and looking to make a statement, North Carolina will be tested but should win by a final score of 28-17.

ESPN 2. 2-0. 841. . 1-1. 2115. Saturday, Sept 18. 8 PM ET

Tulane impressed many when they went to Oklahoma and almost pulled off the upset but lost by only five. The following week they put up 69 points on FCS opponent Morgan State for the victory.

Ole Miss defeated Louisville from the ACC in a nationally televised game on Labor Day and then followed that victory up with a home win against FCS opponent Austin Peay. The Rebels have a talented offense and their defense is better than expected this far.

Some may have looked at the Green Wave’s performance in Week 1 and think they can pull off the upset against Ole Miss but the Rebels offense is too strong and it will lead them to a 41-24 victory over Tulane.

10:45 PM ET. 897. 2-0. 836. . 2-1. PACN. Saturday, Sept 18

Fresno State seems to be the trendy pick for this week to pull off a major upset. The Bulldogs had an impressive shutout against UConn in Week 0.

Their most significant performance this season was actually in a loss. Fresno State went to Oregon who the Ducks in the following week pulled off an upset and defeated Ohio State on the road and gave Oregon everything that they could handle. The Bulldogs were actually leading the Ducks early in the fourth quarter and played well all game before losing 31-24. Fresno State ended up defeating Cal Poly the following week 63-10 in convincing fashion.

UCLA dominated Hawaii in Week 0 play by defeating 44-10. The following week they welcomed in LSU who was ranked heading into this matchup. UCLA ended up playing well against the Tigers and ended up defeating them by 11.

The Bruins look to challenge Oregon for the Pac-12 crown and UCLA will be challenged but will prevail and defeat Fresno State by a final score of 31-27.
