2. Miami continues to play undisciplined football

This game had all of the worst elements of the Manny Diaz era so far at Miami.

The tackling was terrible, there were too many penalties, turnovers were an issue, dropped passes, and missing chip shot field goals. These are all the elements of an undisciplined team and it has been this way ever since Diaz took over the program.

Miami had their chances to assert themselves in this game but refused to make things easy on themselves. Tight end Will Mallory dropped an easy touchdown that would have made it 14-3 early on and then kicker Andres Borregales missed a 27-yard field goal. On the very first drive of the game, Miami’s offense was moving the ball, but the drive ended in a D’Eriq King fumble.

These are all the signs of a team that is not well coached and Miami played a lot like USC did in the Clay Helton era, which ended this past week.

Miami is making the same mistakes every week and in a game like this, it cost them a victory.
