Northern Arizona upsets Arizona 21-19

The Lumberjacks of the Big Sky Conference traveled to Tucson to take on the Arizona Wildcats of the Pac-12 in a game that featured more turnovers (6) than touchdowns (5).

Despite entering the contest 0-2, Arizona was the heavy favorite to win this game. Freshman Kevin Daniels was the standout in the game, rushing 27 times for 108 yards and scoring one touchdown.

Northern Arizona players were ecstatic after earning the victory. One player was heard cheering, “We (expletive) run this state! It’s personal,” according to the Associated Press.

The Lumberjacks hope to use this momentum when they take on conference foe Northern Colorado in Week 4. Arizona will be in a tough spot when they face No. 3 Oregon next week.

Western Michigan upsets Pittsburgh 44-41

The Western Michigan Broncos, representing the Mid American Conference, got an impressive win over the ACC’s Pittsburgh Panthers, despite both teams combining for more than 200 yards in penalties.

The Broncos relied on sophomore QB Kaleb Eleby to guide them to victory, who was 22 for 34, racking up 336 passing yards, 3 touchdowns, and no interceptions.

Western Michigan controlled the pace of the game, holding the ball for more than 38 minutes, while the Panthers had the ball for just over 19 minutes. However, even with limited time of possession, Pittsburgh senior QB Kenny Pickett absolutely crushed Western Michigan’s defense. Pickett tossed six touchdown passes, going 22 of 30 for 380 yards.

Western Michigan (2-1) looks to continue their success when they take on San Jose State. Pittsburgh falls to 2-1 on the season and will face New Hampshire in Week 4.
