4. Kenneth Walker III, Tanner Mordecai officially enter Heisman race

These two players have been stuffing the Heisman Trophy stat sheet with big game after big games and not many people are talking about them as two of the best players in the country.

For Michigan State’s Kenneth Walker III, he’s been running all over opposing defenses in a dominating fashion. Against Northwestern he gained 264 yards, carrying the ball 23 times and running in four touchdowns. Against No. 24 Miami, he ran the ball 27 times for 172 yards.

If Walker can continue playing at such a high level and remain the Spartans’ catalyst for success, he’ll be talked about as a Heisman hopeful after a big showing this week against Nebraska.

SMU junior quarterback Tanner Mordecai has been absolutely torching opposing defenses this season. He’s been throwing the ball accurately (81-for-111) and for big gains. He’s thrown for 1,023 yards and dished out 16 touchdowns, giving up just two interceptions through Week 3.

Look for Mordecai to have a big statement game against in-state Big 12 rival TCU, boosting his name in the Heisman watch lists.

Watch Mordecai’s SMU Mustangs take on UCT on Sept. 25 at 12 p.m. EST on FS1.

Look for Walker to have a big game when Michigan State takes on Nebraska on Sept. 25 at 7 p.m. EST on FS1.
