College Football 2021: Winners, losers from Week 5 AP Top 25
Loser: Clemson (Down to No. 25)
It has not been the season that the Clemson Tigers had planned coming into the year. The offense has taken a big step backward and DJ Uiagalelei has not lived up to the hype. The offense is dreadful in every facet so far and it is tough to see any quick fixes for their issues.
Clemson is still the most talented team in the ACC by a pretty good margin. It would surprise nobody if they managed to run the table and win the conference. There are a lot of things that are going to have to be sorted out though. Clemson sustained injuries to two of their best players in running back Wil Shipley and defensive tackle Bryan Bresee. The Tigers are out of the playoff run, but there is still something to play for.
Loser: Texas A&M (Down to No. 15)
Texas A&M is a good football team with an elite defense. I just don’t understand why they were getting so much hype as the second-best team in the SEC in the preseason. This is an offense that could not create any explosive plays last season and so far in 2021, that has continued. I understand that starting quarterback Haynes King is injured, but there is no reason the Aggies should look as inept as they do on offense.
Like Clemson, there is still a lot to play for in College Station. However, if this offense can’t get it together, it is tough to see A&M beating the likes of Alabama or Ole Miss.
