North Carolina State already has a loss this season and didn’t have any votes in the AP Top 25 heading into Week 4, but it’s going to be very difficult to leave out a team that upset the No. 9 team in the country to improve to 3-1. Are there 25 teams better than NC State at this point in the season? I don’t think so.

For the second time this season, the offense was a little disappointing in a loss, trailing for most of the game against Baylor. The Cyclones scored a late touchdown but missed the two-point conversion which was the difference in this one as Brock Purdy and Matt Campbell have some soul-searching to do.

Spencer Sanders and the Cowboys had a prime opportunity to beat a ranked team and jump into the Top 25 after beating Boise State in Idaho last weekend. The Cowboys did just that, handling Kansas State 31-20 but the fact that they didn’t score a single point in the second half was a concern.

The Bears were already on the verge of making it into the AP Top 25 last week after a 3-0 start and a couple of blowout wins, but now it’s a certainty. Baylor pulled off the huge upset of No. 14 Iowa State to improve to 4-0 and it looks like Dave Aranda has his guys cooking. We’ll see this team jump into the rankings this week.

I’m not impressed with Auburn’s response to a Penn State loss this week and I’m sure AP voters will feel the same way. The Tigers struggled for four quarters against Georgia State as Bo Nix came back down to earth. Auburn escaped a massive upset and should barely move in this week’s rankings.
