Florida Football: 3 bold predictions for October 2021
Florida football has impressed just about everyone through four games this season. Despite losing Kyle Trask, Kyle Pitts, and Kadarius Toney, the Gators are off to a 3-1 start and they’re a missed two-point conversion away from being 4-0 with a win over No. 1 Alabama.
Dan Mullen has another solid team on his hands and this one may actually have a serious shot at the College Football Playoff. The Gators will need a perfect month of October, however.
Will the Gators be able to get through a tough slate, which includes No. 2 Georgia, in order to head into November as a serious playoff threat?
Let’s get bold ahead of a huge October slate.
3. Anthony Richardson takes over as QB1
Anthony Richardson is the most exciting player on Florida’s roster, and that’s not an understatement. The freshman quarterback has passed for 192 yards and two touchdowns on 6-of-11 completions while also rushing for 275 yards and two more scores, averaging an astounding 25 yards per rush.
Long story short, if Richardson was healthy, he would have to be considered the favorite for the starting quarterback job. Emory Jones has been up-and-down this season, passing for 668 yards and four touchdowns with five picks while also leading the team in rushing, but the ceiling of the offense might be much higher with Richardson at the helm.
I think we’ll see Richardson finally healthy this month and he’s going to take over for Jones as the starting quarterback but both will still play a decent amount. There are two capable quarterbacks on this roster, but I think the best one is Richardson and we’ll soon see that.
