1. Florida is a top-three team in the playoff race

Beating Georgia will surely open some eyes nationally but I think it’s going to do more than just give the Gators some much-deserved respect, but it’ll also put them in position to make a serious playoff run.

Georgia is just one game on the October slate. The Gators will have to blow through the first three opponents as well, starting with Kentucky.

They will beat Kentucky on the road to start the month, dominate Vanderbilt the week after, and then sneak by LSU in Baton Rouge in Week 7. The Gators will be 6-1 by the time they face Georgia in The World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party the day before Halloween and it’s going to be an epic showdown of top-10 teams.

Kentucky and LSU will be tough matchups, but I think Florida’s defense will do just enough to lead the Gators past the Wildcats and Tigers away from home, plus the play of Anthony Richardson will help.

After beating all three of those teams (Kentucky, LSU, and Georgia), the Gators will be 7-1 on the year, jumping into the top-three in the playoff race.

The Gators will be ranked somewhere around that No. 3 or No. 2 spot after the strong October showing.
