Florida football is heading into a Week 8 bye fresh off a horrible loss to LSU in which it wasn’t able to slow down the Tigers’ offense en route to a 49-42 shootout defeat.

For a second straight year, the Tigers crushed the Gators’ postseason hopes.

No, I don’t think anyone outside of Gainesville believed that Florida was going to push for the SEC title, but there were still some who thought that the Gators had a shot at a New Year’s Six bowl.

It’s been a rough season thus far for Dan Mullen and Florida.

Let’s talk about implications from the Gators’ third loss of the year.

3. LSU has Dan Mullen’s number

It’s actually hard to believe that LSU has beaten Dan Mullen three times in his four years since he’s been at Florida, but the dominance extends back even further. In fact, the Tigers have had Mullen’s number dating back to his Mississippi State days when he went just 2-7 against LSU.

Mullen has been the favorite multiple times (including the last two years) but for some reason, he just can’t draw up a game plan to beat the Tigers.

Florida has to get back to the drawing board after this loss to drop to 4-3 on the year and Mullen has to figure out how he can rebound in order to stay off the hot seat this season.

Luckily for Mullen, Orgeron, who is 4-1 against the Gators’ head coach, won’t be there to torment him next year.
