Coastal Carolina Football: 3 bold predictions for App State battle

It is that time of year again in college football. There are now going to be games on Tuesdays and Wednesdays going forward and that just means more football for the rest of us. This week brings us a showdown that will likely determine the winner of the Sun Belt East.

Coastal Carolina football and App State, the two best programs in the Sun Belt, meet in Boone on Wednesday night for what might be the game of the year in the Sun Belt.

Coastal Carolina is carrying on their success from a season ago when it won double-digit games and became one of the best storylines of the season. The Chants find themselves ranked 14th in the latest AP Poll, but it is fair to wonder if they have earned that slot yet. They have been dominating opponents, but they have played perhaps the easiest schedule in the country.

App State will provide a big step up in the competition on Wednesday.

The Mountaineers suffered a disappointing loss last week to Louisiana, but the Mountaineers have been winning as usual, save for the close loss to Miami. They will have to play better if they expect to beat a nationally ranked Coastal team that is explosive on offense. App State will have to slow down Coastal quarterback Grayson McCall, who is having a great season in 2021. Coastal operates very efficiently on offense and is tough to defend.
