SEC Football Power Rankings, Week 8: Florida takes a stumble
By Shelbie Warr
The Commodores stay at the bottom of the conference after losing to South Carolina on Saturday. They had the victory in hand but lost to a late drive by Zeb Noland. It was heartbreaking for the Vanderbilt faithful, the few that exist that is. Now, they prepare to face off against Mississippi State looking for their third win of the season. To say it has been a down year is putting it mildly for the ‘Dores. It has been obnoxiously sad to watch this year.
The Gamecocks snatched a victory from under the Commodores to put them above .500 on the season. I had more faith in the Gamecocks than this, but at this point, it is not looking favorable. Struggling with Vanderbilt, Troy, and ECU isn’t exactly the best look. They’ve got Texas A&M this week who proved that there is no hangover from knocking off Alabama now two weeks ago. They haven’t beaten Texas A&M since the Aggies joined the SEC and they haven’t scored a touchdown since 2018. I don’t anticipate that changing much.
The Missouri Tigers are coming off a loss to Texas A&M in which their defense was gashed regularly by two good running backs. They haven’t been able to get their offense really going and that has resulted in four losses on the season. They do get this week off, which will help them for sure, and then they will get Vanderbilt which may or may not count as a second off week.
