1. Sam Hartman needs to be in the Heisman conversation

Heading into Saturday’s game at Army, Sam Hartman was probably the most overlooked prolific passer in college football, for whatever reason. That needs to change.

Hartman entered the Heisman Trophy conversation emphatically with a 70-point performance against Army. He had five touchdown passes and ran for another, really adding to an already impressive stat line on the year.

Before the game, Hartman had over 1,600 yards and 14 touchdowns with just three picks and the nation’s 13th-best QBR. On Saturday, he threw for 458 yards and five touchdowns on 23-of-29 completions. He didn’t make a bad throw all game long and a few of his incompletions were actually fairly easy drops by receivers.

But Hartman realized early on that his receivers were far quicker than Army’s defensive backs and he took advantage.

It’s time to start giving this kid some Heisman recognition as he has over 2,000 yards and 19 touchdowns on the year, leading Wake Forest to a 7-0 record.
