3. Jay Norvell — Nevada head coach

If Texas Tech football has its way, the Red Raiders would probably prefer a head coach with some previous experience. At least if we are talking about preferred candidates.

And one name that has started to come up more and more in head coaching circles is Jay Norvell, who has been the head coach out at Nevada.

Norvell is 30-24 and has put together four straight winning seasons with the Wolfpack. He’s coached in the state of Texas before with the Longhorns and was also the offensive coordinator for Nebraska and also UCLA at one time.

There has been talk about Norvell being a candidate for the Washington State job and you could make a pretty good argument that coaching Texas Tech would be better than at Washington State.

Norvell is becoming a bigger name but the Red Raiders might still have a shot to get him at this stage in his career.
