College Football Playoff Rankings 2021: Projected Top 25, Week 11
I was surprised to see Pitt drop out of the AP Top 25 last week after it lost its second game of the season but the Panthers will likely rise in the playoff rankings after beating Duke by 25 points. Pat Narduzzi has a team that is capable of winning the ACC this season but it can’t afford any more slip-ups this season.
Is it possible to be less impressed with a No. 22 Iowa team fresh off a couple of double-digit losses? Well, the Hawkeyes snuck by a bad Northwestern team on the road, 17-12, snapping that two-game losing streak. But what a fall from grace it’s been for this team that was ranked No. 2 in the country just a few weeks ago.
Auburn lost a tough road game at Texas A&M and the Tigers aren’t the only SEC team from the state of Alabama to lose at Kyle Field this season. Auburn couldn’t muster any offer against Texas A&M, losing 20-3 and dropping to 6-3 on the season. This is still a Top 25 team, but maybe closer to the 15-20 range.
Baylor is going to dip a little bit after losing to a TCU team that is not in a great place as a program. Jerry Kill has taken over for Gary Patterson as the interim coach after the latter announced he would be stepping down and his Horned Frogs still managed to pull off the upset. Baylor is still one of the best surprises in college football this year, but the Bears are looking more like a 20-25 range team.
Remember when we thought Wisconsin was dead in the water this season? Well, the Badgers are back from the dead, reaching bowl eligibility officially after dominating Rutgers on the road, 52-3. No, that’s not a typo, the Badgers did score over 50 points in a Big Ten game. Wild, I know.
