CFP Rankings Projections, Week 12: Did Ohio State do enough to jump Oregon?
Devin Leary did all he could for NC State on the road against Wake Forest, but it just wasn’t enough as the Wolfpack were taken down by the Demon Deacons. I still think this team is good enough to be ranked in the CFP rankings for Week 12, but I’m not sure if a four-spot drop is enough. I think No. 20 seems about right.
San Diego found itself in a dogfight against Nevada on Saturday night but the Aztecs looked to be in good position to win, holding a lead in the fourth quarter. Brady Hoke’s team should improve to 9-1 and with a win, they’ll jump into the top 20.
Pitt escaped a disaster on Thursday night to kick off Week 11 for college football’s ranked teams. The Panthers raced out to a 23-7 lead over North Carolina before letting Sam Howell and the Tar Heels back into the game. North Carolina forced overtime, but the Panthers won in a monsoon as Kenny Pickett was impressive again.
Iowa looked like the best team in the Big Ten West for a while, but the Hawkeyes have looked a lot more human in recent weeks. The Hawkeyes lost two straight to Purdue and Wisconsin and they’ve won their last two games over Northwestern and Minnesota by a combined 10 points. The committee may not be that impressed with this team.
Wisconsin continues to cruise and another blowout win keeps the Badgers atop the Big Ten West in terms of ranked teams. The Badgers have now won six straight games and they haven’t allowed more than 10 points in any of their last three games. Wisconsin is in firm control of their Big Ten title destiny and winning out would send the Badgers to Indianapolis again.
