Florida Football: 4 head coaches who could return Gators to top of SEC
2. Lane Kiffin
How likely is this one to happen? It’d be very difficult to pry Lane Kiffin from Ole Miss but Florida has a legitimate shot at becoming an annual national title contender with the right coach and he has to know that. While he has turned Ole Miss into a contender in just two years, it’s probably much easier to win at Florida.
Kiffin is an excellent recruiter and his personality is perfect for the SEC. He says whatever is on his mind, doesn’t mind trolling, and wins at all costs. He would be the perfect fit for Florida.
Ole Miss is probably going to try to slap a huge extension onto Kiffin’s current contract which would be the best-case scenario there, but if he’s not signing one this offseason, there are going to be plenty of teams willing to make a phone call to see if he’s interested.
Kiffin has also shown that he’s not afraid to take the better job when offered like when he was at Tennessee and left when USC offered. I do think he has grown up a lot since then, but I think the right offer could force him to reconsider his current position at Ole Miss.
If Florida wants a quick turnaround, Kiffin would be a great hire.
