Notre Dame Football: 3 bold predictions for playoff audition vs. Stanford
3. Notre Dame’s defense will flirt with another shutout
Notre Dame’s defense has been on fire late in the season, allowing no more than six points in each of their three most recent games.
They held Navy to six, Virginia to a field goal, and pitched a shutout against Georgia Tech last week.
Stanford has not done a good job of scoring the ball lately. They’re averaging just over 10 points per game in the month of November.
With a really hot defense, how will the Cardinal respond? It’s likely they’ll be overpowered and overwhelmed.
Look for the Notre Dame defense to get to Stanford quarterback Tanner McKee early and often. The sophomore has been sacked 15 times in the last four games.
The Irish can’t wait to get in front of that Stanford offensive line and force McKee to scramble, improvise and make mistakes.
If Notre Dame has their way, they’ll be looking to win this game somewhere in the vicinity of 35-7.
