2. Blake Shapen is one tough dude

Blake Shapen got the call for his second career start on the biggest stage with Gerry Bohanon ruled out right before the game and some Baylor fans were probably on edge with this news.

But the freshman gunslinger showed his toughness against the best defense in the Big 12 and didn’t back away from the pressure. He played a heck of a game and finished with three touchdown passes on 23-of-28 completions. That’s quite the showing from a young quarterback against one of the best defenses in the country in the biggest game of his career.

Shapen picked up the Bears when it looked like all was doomed with Bohanon out and he was impressive for a third straight game as he finished the season with 571 yards and five touchdowns with no picks in the final three games.

Plus, Shapen took some hits all day and even went into the medical tent late in the game but came back and led the Bears to a huge win.

No one expected him to lead Baylor to an upset win here, but he did just that with his toughness and strong arm.
