While I really don’t see this one happening, you just know Marcus Freeman has been making calls in order to make an impression on Anthony Lucas and sell the program to him ever since taking over.

Lucas is one of the top uncommitted prospects in the class, ranked No. 50 in the class as well as the seventh-best defensive lineman, per the composite. He’s respected even more in the 247Sports rankings, however, as they rate him as a five-star and the Np. 14 overall recruit in the 2022 class.

The Scottsdale, Ariz., prospect has over two dozen offers and he has a pretty elite list of presumed finalists heading into signing day. In fact, Alabama and Texas A&M look like the leaders here while LSU, UCLA, and Notre Dame are in that second tier but anything is possible.

The Fighting Irish are aiming to land a number of top defensive players and fortunately, Freeman has either been the primary or secondary recruiter for them all along. Lucas is one of them.
