The top recruit in the country pulled an all-time shocker by flipping from Florida State to Jackson State on Wednesday

Early Signing Day is one of the biggest days on the college football calendar. Fans everywhere look forward to today and hope that the next group of freshmen can turn their program around or keep them elite. Plenty of crazy things can happen on signing day, but nothing could prepare the college football world for what was about to unfold on Wednesday morning.

Travis Hunter, the number one ranked high school player in the country and longtime Florida State commit, flipped his commitment to Jackson State. Hunter grew up a Florida State fan and he was supposed to be the recruit that changed things for the Seminoles and their football program. Despite taking multiple visits this fall to Athens and the University of Georgia, it was assumed that Hunter would not divert from Tallahassee.

The rumor started circulating early Wednesday morning about a potential to Jackson State and head coach Deion Sanders and it turned out to be true.

This is a story that has many layers to it and there is still more from the story to come. Hunter is a generational talent that is going to make an instant impact at Jackson State and this could change the game of recruiting and college football.

There is a rumored potential record-breaking NIL deal involved in this and this could be the first big-time ripple effect of NIL deals in college football. This is going to be talked about a lot in the coming weeks leading up to the college football playoff and it is going to be interesting to see how this changes college football.

Here are three takeaways from Travis Hunter flipping his commitment.
