Florida football already landed Jack Miller in the transfer portal for 2022, but here are a few more gunslingers Billy Napier should keep an eye on.

Billy Napier is getting to work this offseason, looking to upgrade the Florida football roster for the fall of 2022.

The former Louisiana head coach is losing Emory Jones to the transfer portal and Anthony Richardson will be coming off an injury so there’s uncertainty at the position. He’s already landed Ohio State transfer Jack Miller, but I think he needs to target another high-profile option who will upgrade the position that was an absolute nightmare in 2021.

Having two quality options to replace Jones would be a major win, but there’s no word on whether Napier is still looking or not.

Which quarterbacks should Napier look closely at in the transfer portal?

Casey Thompson is an intriguing option as a former four-star recruit who was ranked in the top 300 in the 2018 class. He wasn’t recruited by Florida originally, but Billy Napier could lure him to the SEC to be the Gators’ next quarterback.

Being a veteran as a junior this past season, he doesn’t have a ton of production under his belt but he did have a solid 2021 season as Texas’ QB1.

In fact, Thompson finished the 2021 season with 2,113 yards and 24 touchdowns with just nine picks and a completion rate of 63 percent. He had 157 rushing yards and four more scores as well.

If Napier wants to add a dual-threat on top of Anthony Richardson to battle it out for the starting job, Thompson wouldn’t be a bad option.
