We saw Ohio State end the 2021 regular season in a way it usually doesn’t, and that’s with a loss to Michigan in The Game and it left a sour taste in a lot of mouths.

But the Buckeyes had a much better showing during bowl season, beating Utah in epic comeback fashion in the Rose Bowl behind Jaxon Smith-Njigba’s unbelievable performance. He returns along with CJ Stroud for one final season and that’s bad news for the rest of the country. Right when it looked like the Buckeyes might be coming back down to earth a little, they reload.

The defense should be much better next season with some key pieces returning at every position and the offense is just going to get stronger with Stroud, Smith-Njigba, TreVeyon Henderson, and Marvin Harrison Jr. coming back. This might end up being the best offense in the country.

On top of that, the Buckeyes bring in the Big Ten’s top recruiting class in 2022 which is also the fourth-best in the country. Ryan Day is just adding talent to an already-rich roster.

The Buckeyes will be right outside of that top-two of the national title game participants and they’ll get a huge early-season battle against Notre Dame in Columbus.
