Way-too-early AP Top 25 projections for 2022 college football season
I don’t think anyone expected a field goal contest in the national title game, but Georgia actually scored the first touchdown late in the third quarter to take a 13-9 lead. Alabama would add a field goal and then the two teams would trade touchdowns and missed two-point conversions before Georgia put the game away.
It’s hard to believe that Georgia has finally won a national title after 42 years but Kirby Smart has assembled one of the best defensive units in college football history. It showed against Alabama on Monday night.
That defense is going to be elite once again next season but it’ll be interesting to see who starts at quarterback with Stetson Bennett likely playing his final game. Gunner Stockton comes in as one of the best prospects in the 2022 class at the position and JT Daniels’ decision will be monitored.
But with this defense remaining elite and the offense likely adding even more weapons in the 2022 class, I expect Georgia to be a top-three team to start the year.
