Five-star defender Harold Perkins is one of the top targets left in the 2022 recruiting class. Can Florida Football land him?

National Signing Day is less than a week away and the top remaining uncommitted player on the board is five-star rated Harold Perkins. The Cypress (Texas) Cy Park product was originally committed to Texas A&M but reopened his recruitment after only 22 days.

Perkins will be announcing his final decision on CBS Sports HQ on National Signing Day at 2:15 ET. He will be deciding between Florida, LSU, and Texas A&M. Texas and Jackson State have been rumored to be possibilities as well.

Leading up to the much-anticipated announcement, 247Sports Director of Recruiting Steve Wiltfong shared his thoughts.

"“Well, Harold’s got a big official visit this weekend,” Wiltfong said. “He is going back to Baton Rouge, gonna spend some great time with Brian Kelly and that new coaching staff. And they’re in-home this week. He’s got Florida on Wednesday… Florida and LSU in-home Wednesday and Thursday as they make their final in-home pitches.“And then LSU will get him on campus this weekend. He took an official to Florida two weeks ago. He obviously reopened his recruiting process, de-committed from Texas A&M earlier this week, had some Aggies coaches in-home. Jimbo Fisher had used his in-home previously, so he was not able to go in-home. But we’ll see.”"

Florida football head coach Billy Napier has made his final pitch to Perkins and landing a top-quality recruit like this one would be massive for the future of the program. Napier has made it a point to address the issues on defense and bringing Perkins on board would be a positive move in the right direction.
