4. LSU football — 6 wins in 2022

College football fans and pundits might be mocking Brian Kelly for all the dancing he’s been doing with recruits, but he’s going to get the last laugh.

Kelly didn’t leave an ideal situation at Notre Dame for no reason. LSU football is a sleeping giant and Kelly is exactly the right guy to awaken it. Not only are the Tigers poised for a huge National Signing Day this week, but they are also ranked in the top three when it comes to transfer portal additions for 2022.

LSU football has added a pair of impact defenders from the portal in Mekhi Wingo, a defensive lineman from Missouri, and Jarrick Bernard, a DB from Oklahoma State. They are among five four-star additions from the portal which includes former Penn State running back Noah Cain.

Myles Brennan also returned from the portal giving the Tigers an experienced quarterback to compete with five-star freshman Walker Howard. LSU has also shown interest in Caleb Williams and other transfer quarterbacks, so maybe LSU football will give JT Daniels a call.

Sort of like USC, LSU’s biggest weakness going into next season is probably quarterback. But Kelly has won without an elite QB at Notre Dame for years. It won’t be enough to beat Alabama next year or anything, but LSU will win 9-10 games in 2022.

There’s too much talent and Kelly is too good of a coach for it not to happen. And if LSU football lands a high-level starting quarterback, watch out.
