There has been a lot of speculation about the quarterback position heading into the 2022 season and this past year’s starter Emory Jones’ status with the team is a little confusing.

Everyone expected him to enter the transfer portal and that looked to be his plan although he did stay with the Gators through bowl season. He struggled in a bowl loss to UCF and the reins were expected to be handed off to Anthony Richardson who looked like a star in spurts in 2021.

Jones is reportedly still with the team and enrolled in classes at Florida, so that means Richardson is going to have to fight for the starting job.

I think Richardson wins the starting job next season and takes the SEC by storm, showcasing his elite dual-threat capabilities. He showed flashes in 2021, finishing with 529 passing yards and six touchdowns with five picks and a 59 percent completion rate to go along with 201 rushing yards and three more scores.

Expect Richardson to improve on his accuracy and decision making and become one of the most electric quarterbacks in the SEC in 2022.
