Another incoming freshman who has enrolled early and who’ll have a major impact in 2022 is four-star safety Kamari Wilson.

The top-50 recruit in the class was a top target for the Georgia Bulldogs but he signed with the Gators in the early period despite the coaching change. Billy Napier was able to land one of the top defensive backs in the entire class and it’s pretty clear that Florida needs help there.

Andrew Ivins of 247Sports says he’s a future 2-3 round pick in the NFL draft and compares him to Marcus Maye which is high praise. He said the Under Armour All-American plays an aggressive style of safety and isn’t afraid to play with a full head of steam. He’s a “battering ram” of a safety and that’s exactly what the Gators’ defense needs.

Florida’s secondary has been somewhat disappointing over the past couple of years despite having a ton of talent. A lot of that had to do with a disconnect between Dan Mullen and his defensive coordinator, but now there’s no excuse.

Wilson is going to see the field right away, especially with Trey Dean III moving on.
