3 College football teams that need to target JT Daniels in transfer portal
Former five-star quarterback JT Daniels still hasn’t found a home and here are three college football teams that should consider adding him from the transfer portal.
It’s kind of hard to believe that former five-star quarterback and Georgia starter JT Daniels still hasn’t found a home in the transfer portal.
Daniels started his career at USC before transferring to Georgia. Daniels played well with the Bulldogs but was plagued by injuries and eventually lost his job to Stetson Bennett.
JT Daniels entered the transfer portal this spring, and while he has received plenty of interest, he hasn’t found a new college football team just yet.
Many teams that needed quarterbacks this offseason have found one such as USC, Texas, Ole Miss, Nebraska, Texas A&M, LSU, and others.
I would argue that LSU should be interested in Daniels and have but the Tigers also have Myles Brennan and former five-star Walker Howard too. Plus, Daniels might not be interested in competing for a starting job again. He likely prefers a clear starting job.
That’s why a place like Georgia Southern would make sense. Clay Helton, his former head coach would probably guarantee him that job, however, there are some other college football teams that could really use a quarterback like Daniels, and here are three.
3. Auburn
Auburn is one SEC team that’s picking up steam. But that probably has more to do with hope than reality. The Tigers added Zach Calzada from Texas A&M in the transfer portal, as well as T.J. Finley who came to Auburn from LSU last season.
Finley showed some promise and Calzada did beat Alabama last season, so Auburn is better off than plenty of teams. That being said, Daniels was viewed as a Heisman contender just a season ago and when he did play last year, he was better than both of the Tigers’ current QBs.
Daniels doesn’t deserve to be handed the job. But if he’s willing to compete for it Bryan Harsin should absolutely target him in the transfer portal.
