Nebraska football head coach Scott Frost has one final chance to turn things around and here are our game-by-game predictions for the Huskers in 2022.

There is nothing bold about saying that the 2022 season is a make-or-break campaign for Nebraska football‘s head coach Scott Frost.

Frost has been the head coach at Nebraska for four years and the Huskers haven’t had a single winning season in that span and last year’s 3-9 record was arguably the worst season of them all.

Nebraska football could have easily won six or seven games last season but failed to close the deal and that’s really been the issue throughout Frost’s tenure.

Will that change in 2022? Trev Alberts, the Nebraska AD obviously believes or hopes it will, otherwise he likely would have fired Frost after last season. The Huskers are hoping Frost can do what Jim Harbaugh and respond with a reworked contract, although Harbaugh had put together multiple 10-win seasons before that, while Frost has never won more than five with NU.

While the defensive staff is mostly back intact, Nebraska has gone through a dramatic change on the offensive coaching staff that included the hiring of Mark Whipple away from Pittsburgh.

Whipple was the big get. Nebraska football will also have a new starting quarterback. Adrian Martinez left via the transfer portal, while the Huskers added former Texas starting quarterback Casey Thompson, who led the Big-12 in touchdown passes last season, as well as former four-star recruit Chubba Purdy, who transferred from Florida State.

The Huskers have put together a solid class of transfer portal additions, and even some from the JUCO ranks, so there is hope for at least a three or four-win improvement, which is probably the minimum required for Frost to keep his job.

He’s got to get Nebraska back in a bowl game. Will it happen? Here are our early game-by-game predictions for the Huskers in 2022.
