Oregon State football is among the three finalists to land former five-star quarterback JT Daniels in the transfer portal and here’s why the Beavers make sense.

If you take a scan through the college football transfer portal, one thing you won’t find is a lot of sure-fire starting quarterbacks.

Lots of college football teams are still trying to determine who their starting quarterback is going to be and while there will be more guys entering their name in the transfer portal after spring ball gets over, JT Daniels is the top college football quarterback available right now in the portal.

Just last season, he was getting mentioned as a Heisman candidate before injuries derailed that and Bennett Stetson took over the job at UGA. That led Daniels to the transfer portal and while it seemed like there were a lot of potential destinations, a number of others ended up with other quarterbacks such as LSU getting Jayden Daniels, USC landing Caleb Williams, and so on.

Three other teams I thought that should pursue Daniels were Auburn, West Virginia, and Missouri and it just so happens, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel that Missouri and West Virginia are among the three favorites for Daniels, along with Oregon State.

All three schools would make sense for Daniels, yet here is a look at why Oregon State football would be the best fit for JT Daniels.

Back to the West Coast and away from SEC

I’m not saying that JT Daniels doesn’t want to play in the SEC. He’s not afraid of it. He was a productive quarterback at Georgia and completed 69 percent of his passes to go along with 17 touchdowns and five interceptions.

Daniels is from California and there seemed to be some mutual interest in a return to USC but not after Williams went to USC and if Daniels still wants to return to closer to home, Oregon State football is an ideal fit.

The Beavers are out West and play in a league more wide open than the SEC.

Yes, Daniels could be effective playing for Missouri but is he going to make the difference against Georgia, Texas A&M, Bama, and the like in the SEC? Probably not. The talent gap is just too wide. But at Oregon State, Daniels could potentially help the Beavers contend for a Pac-12 North title.
