2. West Virginia Mountaineers

The West Virginia Mountaineers have a considerable experience issue at quarterback with the departure of Jarret Doege. West Virginia also identified and offered Jones early. The Mountaineers have incoming freshman Niccol Marichol coming in, but Jones could be a great bridge until Marichol gets ready. Jones has two years of eligibility left.

Jones has the arm and athleticism for Neal Brown’s spread offense. There are few quarterbacks in the Big 12 with his extensive skill-set and adds a veteran quarterback to an experienced veteran offense coming into the fall.

1. Missouri Tigers

The Tigers did offer Jones as well, and his game is reminiscent of Kelly Bryant, who transferred from Clemson. Connor Bazelak transferred to Indiana, which leaves quite the hole in the quarterback room. Head coach Eli Drinkwitz and the offensive staff are excited about incoming freshman and top-150 player Sam Horn.

However, do you enter the season without a veteran quarterback with some experience at the skill position? Five-star wide receiver Luther Burden comes in, and a veteran quarterback would do wonders for Burden’s on-field development.
